BeyondBooks: ‘Writing poetry is my favourite hobby’
A poet from Apeejay School, Kharghar, made everyone proud when her poem featured in Atal Bal Kavita Sangrah
She is a Class XI student pursuing PCMB at Apeejay School, Kharghar. Along with academics, she enjoys writing poetry not only in her free time but also whenever she wants to express her deepest emotions. She believes that pure Hindi is the best medium for conveying such feelings. Meet Sakshi Thakkur, whose poem was published in the Atal Bal Kavtha Sangrah.
In this candid interview, she discusses what the poem is about and what inspired her to write it.
Feeling your poem had been selected for Atal Bal Kavita Sangrah.
I had written several poems and submitted this one without expecting it to be selected, as I had been told that the selection process was quite competitive. I was pleasantly surprised when I learnt that my poem had been chosen among the top 100 poems.
What is your poem about, and what inspired you to write it?
In my poem, I have personified the hardships faced by nature and birds. It also carries an implicit message about human life, our opportunities, challenges and the happiness that ultimately awaits us.
How long did it take you to complete the poem?
I do not remember exactly how long it took. I usually write poems after completing my work or whenever I have some free time. My Hindi teacher guided me in understanding the theme and helped me bring a positive message into the poem.
What do you enjoy most about writing poetry?
Writing poetry is my favourite hobby. I enjoy discovering unique aspects of nature and the world that reflect my feelings. It allows readers to understand my emotions through my words. Poetry comes from my heart and gives me a sense of satisfaction. In a world where people may not always listen to you, poetry offers a creative way to express yourself. It feels like magic. Since writing is a natural passion for me, staying committed to it comes effortlessly.
How does the school support your passion?
My school supports me in every possible way, especially through the guidance of my Hindi teacher. Whenever I write a poem, my teachers review it, help me improve my vocabulary and introduce me to renowned poets and their works. My poems are also published in the school magazine every year. I am truly grateful for their constant encouragement.
