Recently, students of Classes VIII A and E from Apeejay School, Noida, visited the Innovation Lab at the National Science Centre, New Delhi. The trip aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of scientific concepts and nurture their curiosity for innovation. What this really means is that the classroom lessons came alive through discovery and hands-on exploration.

For many, it was their first experience seeing how theoretical concepts translate into real-world applications, giving them a glimpse into the creativity and curiosity that drive scientific progress and inspire future innovators.

The highlight of the visit was an engaging workshop on solar cars. Students designed and assembled miniature vehicles powered by solar energy, learning how sunlight could be harnessed as a clean and renewable power source. As they tested their models, they observed how the cars moved only in the presence of light.

Seeing science in action made the learning process both fun and meaningful. The session also helped students understand why non-conventional energy is essential for a sustainable future and how innovation can help reduce dependence on traditional fuels.

Exploring the wonders of science

After the workshop, the students explored the different galleries at the Science Centre. From working models to fascinating exhibits, every section sparked questions and excitement. The hands-on demonstrations deepened their appreciation for how science shapes daily life — from technology and communication to energy and innovation. They also witnessed interactive displays that encouraged observation, analysis, and logical thinking — skills vital for young learners.

The visit turned out to be more than just a field trip. It inspired students to think creatively, experiment fearlessly, and look at science beyond textbooks. Teachers observed that such interactive experiences not only strengthen understanding but also help build problem-solving and teamwork skills. The day concluded with smiles, conversations, and a renewed enthusiasm for learning.
