Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) organised the 10th Interschool Tech Fest 2023 which was attended by students from 15 different schools in Punjab. It was conducted by the IT forum of the PG Department of Computer Science.
Around 325 students participated in the event which comprised 20 different competitions. These included Business Idea Presentation, Play with Clay, Painting on the Spot, General Quiz Bonanza, Gaming, Picture Captioning, Poster Presentation, Photography, Gustakhi Maaf, Website Development, Programming Skills, Declamation, Poetical Recitation, Theme based Modelling, T-shirt painting/Hand painting, Mobile App Idea Presentation, Rangoli, Cooking, Group Dance and RJ Hunt.

Dr Hardeep Singh, professor, Department of Computer Science, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was formally welcomed by Dr Neerja Dhingra, principal, ACFA. “It is an honour for us to have you amongst us and it is a pleasure for the young brigade from different schools who will take inspiration from him and will be encouraged to give their best and put their best foot forward,” she said.
Highlighting Apeejay’s legacy, she talked about how ACFA has consistently promoted art and creativity among students who later earned fame both at national and international levels. Moreover, the institute has made its name in other disciplines like Commerce, Computer Science, Design, and so on. She stressed ACFA’s concerted efforts toward providing holistic development and education.
Dr Singh said, “In today’s era, practical knowledge and polishing individual skills are essential for success; just theoretical knowledge is not sufficient.” He also spoke of teachers’ pivotal role in attaining the same by guiding students in making the right decisions and following the right career path.
Girish Kumar, principal, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, was also present at the event.
Rajni Kumar, assistant professor, ACFA, went on to acquaint students with the various resources and facilities provided by the college through a detailed and eye-catching PowerPoint presentation.
The winners of the fest were awarded certificates and trophies. Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, and Swami Sant Dass School, Jalandhar, were declared the overall champions. MGN Public School, Jalandhar, bagged the runner-up trophy, followed by Lala Jagat Narayan Dav Model School, Jalandhar.
Dr Dhingra congratulated the winning students and appreciated the efforts of Dr Roopali Sood, HOD, Computer Science, and the faculty members of the department: Dr Jagmohan Mago, Dr Ramandeep Kaur, Dr Munish Gupta, Dr Rekha, Ms Pallavi Mehta, and Dr Manisha Sharma for successfully organising the entire event.
