Students celebrate the spirit of service and patriotism
Apeejay School, Model Town, students honour soldiers with rakhis, letters and heartfelt expressions of gratitude
Gratitude becomes more meaningful when it is expressed through thoughtful actions. Students of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, recently demonstrated their gratitude during a visit to the Cantonment Headquarters. NCC cadets, accompanied by other students, met soldiers and jawans to convey their respect and appreciation for their service to the nation.
The visit gave the students an opportunity to thank those who stand strong in the service of the country. It also brought them closer to the values of respect, responsibility and patriotism.
Rakhis that carried a special message
During the interaction, the students tied rakhis to the soldiers and jawans. The gesture reflected a bond rooted in affection, trust and respect. It was a simple way of acknowledging the commitment of those who protect the nation.
The students also shared handwritten letters with them. Each letter carried a personal expression of gratitude. Writing these messages allowed the young participants to put their feelings into words and communicate how deeply they valued the soldiers’ contribution.
Sweets were also distributed during the visit. Together, the rakhis, letters and sweets created moments of warmth and strengthened the connection between the students and the soldiers.
Learning patriotism through action
The visit helped students understand that patriotism is not limited to words or national occasions. It can also be expressed by recognising the courage, discipline and service of those who safeguard the country.
For the NCC cadets, the experience held particular significance as it reflected the principles of discipline, duty and service associated with their training. For the other students, it offered a valuable opportunity to express respect in a sincere and personal manner.
The visit may have been a small gesture, but its message was clear. Gratitude deserves to be expressed, and those who serve the nation deserve to know that their commitment is remembered and respected.
