At Apeejay Svran Global School, parents often point to the school’s personal touch, from teachers who follow up on concerns to a Principal who is present at the gate. Anjali Thamman is the mother of Harshika Thamman, a student at the school. In this conversation, she explains why she chose Apeejay and what she has seen in her daughter along the way.

Why did you trust Apeejay?

Studies-wise and activity-wise, the school was very good. I knew from before that many students were studying here. The school had a good name for academics. That is why I decided to join. Since joining the school, we are satisfied with the school and its facilities.

If there is an issue, do you feel the teachers understand it and handle it properly?

Yes, they do. Even if I call them on the phone with a concern, the teacher listens and follows up on it. There has never been a problem. That kind of responsiveness gives a parent a lot of confidence.

Do you feel there is safety and security in the school?

Yes, definitely. The Principal herself is at the reception in the morning when children arrive, and again in the afternoon when they leave, and all the students go out from there. On top of that, cameras are installed and the school has proper arrangements in place. Seeing the Principal personally involved tells you how seriously the school takes safety.

How do you find the safety there, and the way the non-teaching staff speaks to her?

It is very good. The school’s attendants are very kind. They first call the children and ask them to come down. If anything needs to be conveyed, they let us know. The children travel safely both ways, and I have never had a problem.

If Harshika goes on a picnic, can the teachers look after her among so many children?

Yes, absolutely. The school does not have very large numbers of students, so the teachers can give each child proper attention. They take good care of her, and I have never had any concern on this front.

How does the school provide opportunities for Harshika to grow?

The school encourages children in sports as well as academics. There was a Ramayan competition recently, and Harshika came second overall among all the children, which made us very proud. The school gives children exposure in everything, not just one area. If a child has trouble with a concept, the teacher tells them to ask whenever there is a doubt, and then explains it patiently. That open, encouraging approach makes children comfortable asking questions.

Over the years, what improvements have you seen in Harshika, academically, in sports and in personality?

Harshika does well in her studies, and she is also growing nicely in sports. She is doing well in art too. Everything is going well, and I am happy with her all-round progress.
