He is, at present, studying in Class XII and pursuing Commerce with Core Mathematics. Beyond academics, he has a keen interest in debating, public speaking and leadership. Last year, he served as the Chief Justice of the Student Council and Vice-president of the Interact Club. These experiences taught him the importance of discipline, charity and service in one’s life. Meet Anush Bhalla from Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, Sector 21 D, who has been conferred with the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values.
In an interview, he talks about the role his teachers played in shaping his character.
What does receiving the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values mean to you?

For years, I had hoped to receive this recognition, so finally receiving it made me incredibly happy. It felt like a full-circle moment, as I could look back at my younger self, who had always dreamt of this day. The award gives me a sense of reassurance that the values of kindness, compassion, charity and service that I believe in are meaningful.
Have you ever had to choose between what was easy and what was right?
It reminds me that being a good human being is just as important as achieving success. I feel grateful that this recognition celebrates human values, and I hope to continue practising them in my everyday life. For me, the real meaning of this award lies in carrying those values forward, long after this moment has passed.
How do you balance personal ambitions with your responsibilities towards others?
I believe that balancing personal ambition with responsibilities towards society requires us to think about the consequences of our decisions. Whenever I have to make a choice, I try to consider whether achieving my goal will create something positive or negatively affect others. Ambition is important, but it should never come at the cost of our values or the well-being of society.
What role do your teachers play in shaping your character?
My teachers have supported me academically and emotionally, motivated me during challenging times and helped me learn from my mistakes. Their guidance has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a person. I believe their support has contributed immensely to my personal growth and led me towards the beautiful moment of receiving the award. I will always be grateful for their contribution to my journey.
How can young people contribute to building a more thoughtful and inclusive society?
We can spread awareness, support meaningful causes and bring people together. By using digital platforms responsibly and practising kindness, respect and service in our daily lives, we can create positive change and inspire others to contribute towards society.
What kind of person do you aspire to become, beyond your academic and career goals?
Beyond my academic and career goals, I aspire to become a person who genuinely practises the values of kindness, compassion, charity and service to humanity. I want to always be willing to help others and contribute towards the betterment of society. I also hope my actions inspire those around me and that they can look up to me as an example.
