‘Activities beyond academics made the school stand out for us’

This parent chose Apeejay School, Tanda Road, because a neighbour recommended the school. His children had studied here and have now passed out. “Some of my husband’s friends also spoke positively about the school. We were told that it was one of the best schools in Jalandhar, which encouraged us to choose it for our children,” Gurpreet Kaur, whose daughters, Gurkirat Kaur and Harleen Kaur, are in Class V and I, respectively, shared.

In an impromptu interview, the mother talks about the experience at the school, among other things.

How has your experience with the school been so far?

Our experience with the school has been good. We considered other schools as well, but what appealed to us here was the attention given to activities beyond academics. There are several activities for the children, and I liked that aspect of the school a lot.

What positive changes have you noticed in your children?

One of the biggest advantages is that the school has fewer students, which allows the teachers to give each child proper attention. The teachers understand where a child is making mistakes and know the strengths and weaknesses of every student. I feel that they take good care of the children and remain closely involved in their progress.

Which activities do your children enjoy at school?

They enjoy dancing and painting. They are always excited to take part in all the activities because the teachers have asked them to. Even when I discourage them and ask them to study, they want to participate and tell me that they will manage their studies.

How is the teacher support?

The teachers are extremely supportive. They have recognised the talent in my daughters and give them opportunities to excel. My daughters love to dance and paint. At one of the festivals, one daughter received first prize in colouring, and the other got first prize for her handwriting.

How are your daughters doing academically?

Both my daughters are doing well. The teachers, from time to time, update us on what the schedule will be for the month. During the PTMs, they give us detailed feedback on their progress. The advantage this branch has is due to the limited number of students; they are aware of each student’s capabilities and pay individual attention.

Do your daughters enjoy school?

Definitely. They don’t like to miss school. If the student enjoys studying, this shows that the teachers are doing an excellent job. They love this branch so much that they don’t want to go to the Mahavir Marg branch after Class VIII. They keep asking me to speak with the Principal and extend the school to Class X, at least.
