Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg strengthens workplace safety with POSH Orientation
Staff members sensitised to their rights, responsibilities and the importance of fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment
Recently, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, organised an Orientation Programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, for all staff members. The session aimed to strengthen awareness about workplace safety, promote a culture of respect and inclusivity, and familiarise employees with their rights and responsibilities under the law.
The programme was led by Advocate Ms Akshita Kumar, who provided the staff with a comprehensive overview of the key provisions of the POSH Act. Through an informative and interactive session, she explained the importance of preventing sexual harassment at the workplace and highlighted the legal framework established to protect employees and ensure a safe professional environment.
The orientation focused on creating greater awareness about what constitutes sexual harassment and the importance of maintaining appropriate and respectful behaviour in the workplace. Ms Kumar also emphasised the need for employees to understand the mechanisms available for reporting incidents and seeking appropriate redressal. The session encouraged staff members to be vigilant, responsible and proactive in contributing to a secure workplace.
A significant aspect of the programme was its emphasis on prevention. Staff members were sensitised to the importance of recognising inappropriate conduct and addressing concerns through the appropriate channels.
