Apeejay Stya University (ASU) in Gurugram recently organised an engaging Bahasa Indonesia Course, aiming to provide a holistic learning experience for its students. This initiative was part of the university’s continuous efforts to enrich its educational offerings and broaden students’ cultural horizons.
The course was coordinated by Dr. Judith and Dr. Roni from the Universitas Kristen Indonesia Toraja (UKI Toraja), while Dr. Vijay Kumar served as the Programme Coordinator from India. Their collaborative efforts ensured that the course was both informative and enjoyable, fostering a deep interest in the Indonesian language and culture among the participants.

The response to the course was overwhelmingly positive, with a large number of students enrolling. More than 15 students successfully completed Level 1 of the Bahasa Indonesia Course, earning certificates of achievement. This milestone marked their first step in mastering the language, equipping them with basic communication skills and a foundational understanding of Indonesian culture.
Toshika, a 4th-year B. Design student, shared her enthusiasm for the course: “It was really a great session. I would love to get this opportunity again and learn more.” Her feedback reflects the general sentiment among the participants, who found the course to be a valuable and enriching experience.
Similarly, Madhu Kumari, a 2nd-year BA B.Ed student, highlighted the personal and educational benefits of the course: “This journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for this opportunity.” Her appreciation underscores the positive impact of such initiatives on the students’ academic and personal development.

The success of the Bahasa Indonesia Course at ASU demonstrates the university’s commitment to providing diverse and holistic educational experiences. By offering courses that go beyond the traditional curriculum, ASU ensures that its students are well-rounded and culturally aware individuals, ready to thrive in a globalised world.
All in all, the Bahasa Indonesia Course was a resounding success as the students enthusiastically participated in this learning activity. ASU’s initiative not only enhanced the students’ language skills but also fostered a greater appreciation for Indonesian culture, contributing to their overall growth and development.
