Recently, Apeejay School, Pitampura, hosted its second online cultural exchange session with Guohua Junior High School, Taiwan. The initiative focused on helping students understand cultures beyond textbooks while building meaningful peer connections.
The session brought together students from both schools through structured presentations and open interaction. It was designed to encourage awareness of everyday life in different countries, moving beyond facts to lived experiences.
Students from Taiwan introduced their traditional foods, including bubble tea, dumplings, and popular street dishes. They spoke about hobbies common among teenagers, such as gaming, cycling, music, and social media use. Their segment on tourism highlighted well-known landmarks like Taipei 101, night markets, and scenic natural locations.
In response, Apeejay School students presented India’s diverse food traditions, with examples like biryani, dosa, and regional cuisines. They shared how Indian teenagers spend their time, pointing to sports, dance, reading, and content creation. Their tourism presentation covered destinations such as the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Kerala, and the Himalayan region.

A student participant reflected that preparing for the session required looking closely at everyday habits that often go unnoticed. This helped them explain their culture with more clarity and confidence. Another student noted that listening to their peers from Taiwan made them realise how similar teenage interests can be, despite cultural differences.
The exchange remained interactive throughout, with students asking questions and responding to each other’s presentations. This format encouraged active listening and respectful dialogue while also strengthening communication skills.
The session ended on a positive note, reinforcing the growing partnership between the two schools. It also set the stage for future exchanges, where students can continue to learn from each other and build a wider understanding of the world beyond their immediate environment.
