Ankit Kohli says he enrolled daughter Amaya in Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Delhi to ensure her all-round development through the Montessori method. Kohli is the founder & director of Pure Research Private Limited, while his wife Pamela Aroca Flores is the editor and translator of ProTranslating. In an interview, the father shares his experience with the school faculty, the improvements he has noticed in his daughter, and more. Edited excerpts:

What made you opt for Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld?

We were looking for a school where Amaya would get exposure to Montessori experiential learning. My wife is a foreign national while my work involves collaborating with colleagues from different countries. So global exposure and pedagogy of international standards were very important for us. In line with that was the need for enhanced social skills in Amaya, especially after the lack of social interactions due to the pandemic. These were the main requirements which we thought would be met in a school like Rhythms, in addition to a good student-teacher ratio and its proximity to our home. Of course, we had received good feedback about the school.

Tell us about your first interaction with the school faculty.

Our interactions with the admission team, teachers, and the school head were fairly pleasant. They addressed all our questions very well.

Has the school lived up to your expectations?

It definitely has. We are very happy with Amaya’s progress so far. We have seen her vocabulary expand. The teachers are working on improving children’s social and motor skills. We have seen a lot of improvement in organisational and life skills as well including table manners, etiquette, etc. We have seen the difference in the past two-three months. Amaya loves going to school because she gets to interact with other kids. Emotional development is a critical aspect for us and that is surely being taken care of at Apeejay. We are happy with the kind of attention she gets from the teachers.

We also enrolled her in the school summer camp which gave her exposure to various co-curricular activities like dance, art and craft, drama, and so on. Overall, we feel her development is on the right track.

Do the teachers share regular feedback?

Every time we go to pick up or drop Amaya at school, we get a chance to interact with the teachers. At times, we meet the school principal. The teachers are also available on WhatsApp to address parents’ questions. This is in addition to the regular updates we receive from them about things happening at school.

Are you planning to continue with Apeejay after Amaya completes pre-school?

Apeejay is definitely going to be one of the options. We are happy with what we have experienced so far and there is no reason to not consider Apeejay.
