The National Testing Agency has released the provisional answer key for NEET UG 2026, allowing candidates to review their responses and raise objections within a limited window. The answer key, along with individual response sheets and OMR records, is now available on the official NEET website.
Students who appeared for the exam can log in using their application number and date of birth to access the documents. This step is crucial for those who wish to estimate their scores ahead of the final result. By comparing their marked responses with the provisional answers, candidates can calculate a tentative score and assess their standing.
The agency has also opened a challenge facility for candidates who find discrepancies in the answer key. To submit an objection, students must provide supporting evidence and pay a fee of ₹200 per question. The fee is non-refundable, and only challenges submitted within the specified timeframe will be considered. Subject experts will review all objections before preparing the final answer key.
NEET UG 2026, conducted earlier this month, saw participation from over 22 lakh candidates across centres in India and abroad. The examination remains one of the largest entrance tests in the country, determining admissions to undergraduate medical programmes.
Once the objection window closes, the NTA will evaluate all valid challenges. Any necessary revisions will be incorporated into the final answer key, which will form the basis for the declaration of results. Candidates are advised to monitor the official website regularly for updates regarding the final key and scorecards.
The release of the provisional answer key marks an important stage in the admission process, offering transparency and giving students an opportunity to verify their performance before results are finalised.
