In the Chief Guest’s address, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, M.P. Gautam Budh Nagar, UP and  Former Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C) & MoS- Civil Aviation and Environment, Forest & Climate Change, lauded Apeejay for its commitment to the quest for excellence in the field of education. “It’s my privilege to attend Apeejay International School’s Annual Appreciation Day. Apeejay is a big brand in education due to the late Dr. Stya Paul who was an eminent industrialist, educationist, philanthropist and a freedom fighter. Dr. Stya Paul has been instrumental in the rise of Apeejay. His name will always glitter like gold in the history of education. Now his legacy is being carried forward by his daughter and only child, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Founder Chairman.  She is a leading woman entrepreneur and industrialist of the country, who has made outstanding contributions to the cause of industry, woman empowerment and education. In fact, she is an icon of women empowerment. Apeejay, which runs 24 education institutions across the country, has done wonders in the field of education. I once again congratulate the Principal, Dr, Sarita Pande, teachers and students for putting up this great show.”

The pandemic reinforced the significance of value-based education, character building: Mr. Aditya Berlia

Mr. Aditya Berlia, Co-promoter, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, Co-founder, Pro Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, said the pandemic has once again reinforced the importance of value-based education and character building. “One of the things we witnessed during Covid time is that there were leaders at the national and local level who did incredible work and put community before self, but we also see people who did horrible things and harmed the community. While at Apeejay, we have always focused on our education, innovation and curriculum which is benchmarked against some of the best schools of the world and India…we have always stood for values and character and I think Covid has once again reminded us of the importance of values. We have stood for values and character for the last 60-70 years and we will continue to do so as we go forward. Our alumni, who are based around the world, have time and again vouched for Apeejay’s culture that focuses on values and character building. This is what they say has held them in good stead when times were tough .”

Speaking further at the ‘Abhyudaya’—Apeejay International School, Greater Noida’s Annual Appreciation Day, Mr. Aditya highlighted the plight of  millions of students in India from low-income families who do not have access to the digital medium to attend the online classes. “I believe all things start and end with gratitude. Millions of students in India didn’t receive even a single day of virtual education. This is the luxury and privilege that we all have due to the large investment we have made in cloud computing, teacher training, and other areas. Within a few days of lockdown, we were able to shift 100 per cent from offline to online and fulfil all our examination commitments and this was only possible by the extreme hard work of our parents, teachers, and staff, who all went above and beyond to create a strong and supportive community.”

Mr. Berlia also brought to the notice of all stakeholders – parents, teachers and students – the construction work done in the school during the pandemic to build new infrastructure and upgrade classrooms to international standards.

Our curriculum is in sync with NEP 2020: Dr. Sarita Pande

Dr. Sarita Pande, Principal, Apeejay International School, Greater Noida, said the school faced the challenges posed by online learning head on. “We met the challenge head on under the guidance of Mr. Aditya Berlia who helped make the transition from offline to online so smooth. Not only did we manage classes but assessment, activities and annual functions witness to the commitment of management that the learning would never stop. We are committed to provide a healthy and constructive learning atmosphere that encourages students to become prolific and motivated learners, convergent thinkers and wonderful human-beings. Our curriculum is also in sync with NEP 2020.”

Dr. Pande further mentioned the numerous accolades won by the school in recent times. “Apeejay won the ‘Certificate of recognition for Innovative practices for academic excellence’ at 17th World Education Summit 2020. The school has also been conferred with the ‘Certificate of Iconic contribution in the field of education’ at World Education Icon Awards. Our school has been ranked No. 1 in Greater Noida by The Times Of India survey for the last five years.”

The principal also shared the school’s annual report 2020-21 detailing the incredible achievements in the domain of academics and co-curricular. The event also saw students enthralling the audience with their mesmerising performance.
