‘Continuous support, guidance from the placement team and faculty members boosted my confidence’

Priyanshu Sen, an alumnus of Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, credits his academic journey for shaping both his professional outlook and personal growth. Currently working as a PSS Intern at Smartping AI Pvt Ltd, Priyanshu believes the university’s blend of practical learning, supportive faculty, and skill-building opportunities helped him develop confidence, communication, and industry readiness. In this interview, he shares his placement journey, learnings, and future aspirations. Read edited excerpts:

Where are you working and what position?

Currently, I am working at Smartping AI Pvt Ltd as a PSS Intern. My role primarily involves understanding client requirements and providing suitable solutions based on their needs. I also work on creating automated chat flows and connector-based projects. This role has been a valuable learning experience for me, as it has provided practical industry exposure and helped me better understand professional expectations and workflows.

How was your placement experience with Apeejay? How did you prepare for placement?

My placement experience with Apeejay Stya University was quite positive. The placement cell was proactive and regularly updated us about placement drives, interview schedules, and training programmes. They also provided guidance on aptitude preparation, resume building, and interview techniques, which proved very helpful throughout the placement process. To prepare myself, I focused on strengthening my technical knowledge, communication skills, and aptitude abilities. The continuous support and guidance from both the placement team and faculty members boosted my confidence and ultimately helped me secure a placement through the university.

How did faculty at Apeejay help you prepare for your professional journey?

The faculty at Apeejay played an important role in shaping my professional journey. They consistently encouraged us to learn beyond textbooks and understand concepts through practical applications and real-world examples, which made the learning process more effective and relatable. They also motivated us to improve essential professional skills such as communication, presentation, and problem-solving. Whenever we required academic or career-related guidance, the faculty members were always approachable and supportive. Their mentorship helped me build confidence and prepared me for the transition into the professional world.

What skills did you learn at Apeejay?

During my time at Apeejay, I developed a combination of technical and soft skills. Along with gaining subject knowledge, I improved my teamwork, time management, presentation, and problem-solving abilities. I also learned how to handle challenges independently, work efficiently under pressure, and adapt to different situations. The practical exposure and training sessions conducted by the university gave me a better understanding of workplace expectations, which has been beneficial during placements as well as in my current role.

What are your future aspirations?

My future aspiration is to continue growing professionally while constantly improving my skills and knowledge through experience. I aim to take on greater responsibilities, stay updated with new technologies and industry trends, and build a successful and stable career in my field. At the same time, I want to contribute positively to every organisation I work with. In the long term, I see myself taking on leadership responsibilities, managing projects effectively, and mentoring others in their professional journey.
