Dashing through the snow, In a one-horse open sleigh, O’er the fields we go….
Christmas is round the corner and preparations and celebrations have already begun. Gearing the excitement for the upcoming festivities, the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) recently celebrated a Christmas Carnival ‘Mistletoe Mania’. The event was organised by the students of Corporate Communications and Event Management programme.
The institute was decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations including Christmas trees, lights, and so on. In addition, good food and Christmas carols added to the excitement.
The event was graced with the presence of the esteemed guests including Dr Kalpana Singh, Education Consultant, Apeejay Education, New Delhi, Professor Ashok Ogra, Advisor ( Mass Communication) AIMC, Professor Sajal Mukherjee, Director of AIMC and Dr. Etinder Pal Singh, Professor and Associate Director, the Apeejay School of Management.
After the formal inaugural ceremony, the stalls were open for all. Students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, fellow-batchmates from other institutes joined the festivities.
Thrilled to be a part of the celebration, Ishika Bhog, pursuing post graduation from AIMC said, “There’s something magical about Christmas and I love that feeling. I believe every bad thing just vanishes on Christmas. While organising my first event at the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, I’ve grown as a person and an event manager. Mistletoe Mania taught me a lot more. I am so happy to be a part of the core organising team.”
Another AIMC student, Ananya Ranjan, said, “Christmas is the day that holds a special place in the calendar. It’s like the last celebration that stays with us till the next year. With Apeejay’s Christmas Carnival, Mistletoe Mania, I got to feel the best kind of Christmas celebration ever. Be it delicious food or partying with friends, this Christmas celebration has been the best so far ever since the pandemic started.”
“Christmas is what sums up the whole year for me. A celebration which I cherish completely,” said AIMC student Prashant Chaudhary. “I totally agree with Prashant. Christmas has always been one of the most favourite festivals of the year and this year, I celebrated the fest with my AIMC family,” said Isha Juneja, student with AIMC.
The merriment continued with a candle lighting ceremony on behalf of differently-abled kids. Six stalls with unique names were installed. These included: Sip and Slurp, Pani Weds Puri, Casino Shots, Knack for Snacc, Chat e Khaas and Snap Santa. All these stalls served lip-smacking food and delicious beverages. The jury members tried out the eateries from these stalls and subsequently evaluated them based on the investment made and profits gained.
Dr. Etinder Pal Singh was really impressed with the organisers who were supervised by Professor Pushpa Nair and Professor Pijush Dutta. He praised them for their hard work and the way they organised the entire event seamlessly. Dr. Kalpana shared the same thought. She further mentioned she was glad to see such a celebration on campus after a long time.
Further adding, Prof Pijush Dutta, Programme Director and Associate Professor, said “Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. Our students of corporate communications and event management really proved that to cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy and also showed their big idea, strategic approach towards their event with the real spirit of Christmas.”
The organisers aimed to keep the high spirits up but by strictly keeping in mind safety measures against Covid-19. The event came to an end with all the students and faculty members giving their feedback that was displayed on the feedback wall.

“We at AIMC are powering the students through innovation, hands-on and LIVE inhouse projects. This winter carnival, ‘Mistletoe Mania’ was meticulously planned and well-crafted from start to finish. Kudos to students and all the mentors”.
-Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director, AIMC
