The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the Round 3 seat allotment result for JoSAA 2026. Engineering aspirants seeking admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) can now check their allotted institute and academic programme through the official JoSAA counselling portal.

Candidates must log in with their JEE Main application number and password to access the allotment result. They are advised to download and retain a copy of the allotment letter for use during the subsequent admission process.

Following the declaration of the Round 3 result, candidates who have been allotted a seat must complete the online reporting process within the stipulated timeline, from July 6 to July 8, 2026. The process includes payment of the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF), confirmation of the allotted seat, uploading of required documents and responding to any verification queries raised by the authorities.

Students must ensure that all formalities are completed before the deadline. Failure to pay the fee, upload documents or respond to verification queries within the prescribed period may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

Candidates who are satisfied with their allotted institute and programme can select the Freeze option to confirm their seat and withdraw from further rounds of counselling. Those wishing to be considered for a better preference in the upcoming rounds may choose either ‘float’ or ‘slide’, subject to the counselling rules and eligibility criteria.

The ‘float’ option allows candidates to retain their current seat while remaining eligible for an allotment in a higher-preference institute or programme. The ‘slide’ option enables candidates to seek an upgrade to a preferred programme within the same institute.

JoSAA will also release the Round 3 opening and closing ranks for participating institutes. Candidates can access the OR-CR details through the official portal by selecting the counselling round, institute type, institute, programme and seat category.

The opening and closing ranks will help aspirants assess admission trends and make informed decisions for the remaining rounds of JoSAA 2026.
