Choosing the right school for her son came with challenges. Her husband, back then, was in the US, and she had to make the decision. She did a lot of research. For her, academics were important, of course, but she was more focused on the school environment, discipline, values, and ethics. “I feel academics can be managed, but the environment in which a child grows matters a lot. I spoke to other parents and took feedback from them. I received very positive feedback about Apeejay School, Greater Noida. I visited the school and observed the discipline. That gave me confidence,” Preeti Yadav, whose son, Vadik, is now studying in Class III here, said.

Are you satisfied with your decision?

I feel proud of my decision. The students in this school are disciplined, and I appreciate that a lot. I also feel there is no discrimination among children based on their family background. Every child is treated properly. The Principal and teachers take care of these things, and that is very important for me as a parent. I am happy that I chose this school for my child.

How has he adjusted to the academic and social environment?

He is now in Class II and adjusted very well. When children are in Pre-primary classes, there is not much pressure from exams. But now, in class three, they have UTs and term exams, so the academic environment has become more structured. He performed very well in the last UTs, and I would give a lot of credit for that to his teachers.

What does he enjoy most at school?

He is very happy about the practical learning in school. Labs have been introduced in different subjects, and he enjoys that a lot. He comes home and tells us that they went to the Math Lab or did something practical in class. When children learn through activities and practical things, they understand better and also feel more interested.

What are some of the changes you have seen in him?

When I took admission for him in KG, he was very shy. He was intelligent but not comfortable speaking in front of others and spoke only around familiar people. Over time, the school involved him in activities like Grandparents Day and other events, which helped his confidence grow. Today, he hosts complete events, and last year, he performed a major role in The Ramayan. Seeing him on stage made me very happy. I give full credit to the teachers for bringing him forward so beautifully.

Is there any subject or school activity that he really enjoys?

Academically, he is doing well and enjoys his studies, but apart from academics, he enjoys sports a lot. Initially, I felt there was limited exposure to sports, especially because skating was not offered then. When he was in class one, we shared this feedback with the principal, and I appreciate that the school took it positively. Skating was introduced, and sports now get dedicated time. He enjoys it so much that he refuses to miss school on sports days. He has become very enthusiastic.

What is one thing you truly appreciate about the school’s role in your child’s growth?

I would say public speaking. A child can do well in academics, but confidence on stage develops slowly. From the beginning, the school gave my child opportunities to speak, first in front of classmates and then in larger groups. Today, he can speak confidently before many people. I truly appreciate how patiently the school has built this confidence in him.
