The students of Classes III, IV, and V of Apeejay School, Noida, came together to celebrate Van Mahotsav through a series of meaningful, engaging, and hands-on activities that deepened their understanding of trees, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
The celebration commenced with an interactive session conducted by the Science Department. Through a simple yet informative presentation, teachers introduced students to the significance of Van Mahotsav, its origins, and the purpose behind observing the festival. They spoke about the invaluable role trees play in sustaining life by providing oxygen, food, shade, shelter, and a cleaner, healthier environment.

Students participated enthusiastically throughout the session, responding to questions and sharing their thoughts on how they could contribute towards a greener planet. They also took the Green Pledge, promising to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. The young learners filled the space with spirited slogans such as “Go Green, Keep it Clean!” and “Green Earth, Happy Earth!”, reinforcing the collective message of protecting and nurturing nature.
The celebration extended beyond discussion through thoughtfully designed class-wise activities. Class III students explored the fascinating journey of organic waste in Nature’s Recycling Lab. They learned how fruit and vegetable peels decompose naturally to form nutrient-rich compost, gaining an early understanding of waste segregation, composting, and the importance of returning organic matter to the soil.

Class IV students expressed their commitment to the environment through the Green Promise Wall. Using leaf-shaped cut-outs, they wrote personal pledges that reflected simple yet powerful actions, including saving water, planting trees, reducing waste, and keeping their surroundings clean. The wall became a colourful display of young voices united by a shared promise to care for the planet.
For Class V, the Leaf Art Adventure offered an opportunity to blend creativity with environmental awareness. Using naturally fallen leaves, students created imaginative artworks while observing the diverse shapes, colours, patterns, and textures found in nature. The activity encouraged them to appreciate the beauty of the natural world without causing harm to it.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Tree Hugging and Tree Adoption activity. Students hugged trees and pledged to care for them, recognising that every tree deserves protection and respect. The activity served as a gentle yet powerful reminder that environmental conservation begins with small, thoughtful actions.
Through this enriching Van Mahotsav celebration, students learned that protecting nature is not merely a responsibility but a promise to build a healthier, greener future for all.
