When this family was shifting to Greater Noida, they discussed school options; since the parent is a doctor, he consulted his colleagues. I came to know that the child-teacher ratio at Apeejay School, Greater Noida, was good, and the school is good. Getting positive feedback, he enrolled his daughter, Niharika, who is now in Class VII here. Meet Dr Niraj Kumar, who practises general medicine at Sharda Care, Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida.

In a candid interview, the father talks about what he values most at this school, among other things.

How has her academic journey been so far?

My daughter joined this school in Class V. She has improved a lot in a few subjects, and overall, the academics are good. In other subjects, she is okay and trying to catch up.

What do you value the most about this school?

Individual attention is the most important thing about this school. That is something I really value. She has also become more responsible about her studies. Apart from academics, she participates in extracurricular activities, which is also a positive change. She is very good at skating and has participated in many events.

Has she participated in any skating competitions?

Yes, she qualified for the International Skating Championship. The final was supposed to be held in Thailand, but due to the ongoing US-Iran escalation, the event was cancelled.

How has the school’s communication with parents been?

The communication has been fine. We go to parent-teacher meetings and discuss everything with the teachers. Whenever there is something important to address, we are able to speak to them directly. That regular interaction helps us understand her progress better.

How has the school helped your daughter, Niharika, grow from Class 5 until now?

She has become more confident in the way she handles her routine and responsibilities. I have seen her taking more interest in different activities, and she has also started managing her studies with a little more seriousness. Overall, I feel the school has helped her grow gradually.
