Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, hosted a joyful
rakhi-making activity, held for its youngest learners from
Pre-Nursery to UKG. This gave young children an early, hands-on introduction to one of India’s most cherished celebrations of love and togetherness.
The little learners participated with great enthusiasm and creativity, crafting their own colourful rakhis using simple materials suited to their age. Through this engaging, hands-on activity, Apeejay children were able to express their imagination while creating small handmade treasures they could proudly call their own.
Beyond the joy of art and craft, the activity served a deeper purpose, helping young children strengthen their fine-motor skills through the careful, detailed work involved in creating each rakhi. At the same time, the activity introduced them to the emotional and cultural significance of Raksha Bandhan. The festival celebrates the beautiful bond of love, protection, and togetherness between siblings.
For young students, engaging directly with the craft-making process made the concept of the festival far more relatable and meaningful than simply being told about it. As they worked with colours, threads, and decorative elements, the students began to understand, in their own way, the warmth and emotion behind the tradition of tying a rakhi.
