She joined Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, in Class VIII. Even though she was an introvert and shy, it didn’t prevent her from getting the Star Apeejay Award for kickboxing at graduation. “I had a small circle of friends. I was in my own bubble, but I was close to the teachers, who were like friends. Today, I am a content head for a travel company; I handle all the social media work across the platforms, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn,” Nitisha Kaila, the alumna of the school, shared.

In a candid interview, she shares her fond memories from the school, among other things.

How did you end up working in the travel industry?

I am a Humanities student. I did not know what I wanted to pursue. I was confused when I joined college. I took a design degree in communication design. During my course, I was introduced to subjects like video editing and filmmaking. My interest developed, so I thought that the field was for me. This interest prompted me to go on a solo trip, where I met the founder of the company where I work. The rest is history.

What are some of the challenges that come with your industry?

It is a very saturated market. Everybody is promoting everything on social media right now. There is also a lot of copying. If one thing is working, you have to keep up with the trends. You have to have a better strategy to promote your products. You have to have a USP and be creative.

AI is disrupting almost every sector and industry. How is it changing your industry?

We use AI in our work, but not a lot. We focus on maintaining originality. We try to film our movies, our own short films, because most of our content is from on the ground. We go to the places, we shoot the locations ourselves, and we create a story for the script. I am also the face of the page. So you will see me writing the scripts. You will see me doing the voice-overs.

What are some fond memories from your school days?

My best memory is from Class XI; I am not sure whether I should say this. I definitely don’t recommend others to do this, but the entire class bunked and went to the school grounds.

Which teachers mentored you, guided you, or left an impact on you?

I recall my Home Science teacher and my Psychology teachers. They were extremely supportive and helpful. They guided us whenever we needed mentoring. My Economics teacher left a strong impact on me. I almost failed the subject, but she helped me a lot.

Apeejay Schools lay a lot of emphasis on values. Which values still guide you?

It has to be discipline. I am leading a team now, so being disciplined is very important for me. My school and teachers also helped me identify my leadership qualities, and that continues to guide me in my role as a team lead.
