CUET UG 2025 exam likely to be postponed: NTA and UGC to finalise new schedule

The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programs (CUET-UG) 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is anticipated to be postponed. While the NTA has not officially confirmed this delay, reports indicate that the examination, originally scheduled to commence on May 8, 2025, may now begin in the second week of May and extend through the first week of June.

Exam schedule under review

The postponement discussions arise as the NTA has reportedly informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) about challenges in adhering to the initial schedule. A meeting between the NTA and UGC is expected to take place today to finalise a revised timetable. Following this, an official announcement regarding the new exam dates is anticipated.

Delay causes confusion among aspirants

This uncertainty has led to confusion among the over 13.4 lakh aspirants awaiting the release of exam city slips and detailed schedules. Unlike previous years, the NTA has not yet issued a formal date sheet. Instead, candidates are expected to receive information about their exam cities and subject-wise dates through city intimation slips, which are typically released about 10 days before the exam.

Exam pattern and language options

The CUET-UG 2025 will be conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across all 37 subjects. Each subject test will last 60 minutes and consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. The number of daily shifts will vary based on exam center availability, with two to three shifts anticipated per day.

Candidates can choose to take the exam in any of the 13 languages offered: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

As the situation develops, candidates are advised to regularly check the official NTA website at cuet.nta.nic.in for the latest updates on the examination schedule, city intimation slips, and admit card releases.
