The Central Board of Secondary Education has launched its Parenting Calendar for the academic session 2026-27. The aim is to enhance collaboration between schools and parents for the holistic development of students. The initiative continues the framework introduced in 2025-26 and aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises inclusive and well-rounded education with active stakeholder participation.
According to CBSE, the calendar has been designed to institutionalise structured engagement between schools and families, enabling parents to play a more active role in their children’s academic, emotional, and social growth. The board stated that the initiative seeks to support families in navigating academic pressures and changing educational expectations while ensuring balanced guidance for students both at home and in school.
The revised calendar for 2026-27 introduces new focus areas such as Inclusion and Coping with Changes. The inclusion module aims to promote awareness and sensitivity towards diverse learning needs and equitable educational practices. Meanwhile, the coping with changes section is intended to help parents and students adapt to curriculum updates and evolving academic structures, making the framework more relevant to present-day educational challenges.
Another significant feature of the updated calendar is the strengthening of parenting workshops. These workshops will focus on developmental aspects and provide age-appropriate, context-specific engagement programmes. CBSE noted that the sessions would help parents better understand the developmental stages of their children and offer suitable academic as well as emotional support.
Highlighting the importance of holistic education, the Board said the calendar is intended to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive ecosystem that promotes students’ overall well-being and resilience.
The virtual launch event witnessed participation from principals, teachers, counsellors, wellness educators, and parents from CBSE-affiliated schools across the country.
