Mrs. Sohni Chitra is a homemaker. Her husband Mr. Atul Chitra is the Product Manager at Havells India Ltd. They are proud parents of daughter Mannat Chitra, a class 5 student at Apeejay School, Model Town. In a brief interview, Mrs. Chitra tells readers how a brief tour of the school premises during the time of her daughter’s admission helped her see the value-based education the school imparts to its students. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay School Model Town for your child’s admission?

When I visited the school during the admission, I requested to be allowed to see the school premises, internally. So, I saw the teachers teaching the students in the classroom. The way they were explaining the concepts to the students by giving several examples was very nice and interesting. I felt that a student will always have clarity of concepts at this school. So, I chose Apeejay Model Town for my child.

Please tell us a bit about Mannat and take us through her progress at school?

Mannat is a student in this school from Nursery itself. There is a lot of growth in her, which I have observed in the past few years. From class 1 to 5, she has been a class topper. She is very intelligent and a friendly girl. She loves to study Math. She participates in all the activities and competitions held in the school. Dance and painting are her preferred choice of activities. I have seen a lot of development in her at this school.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

The teachers are teaching very well. Whenever someone asks me about the best school in Jalandhar, I proudly say it is Apeejay Model Town. I want to thank all the teachers, just hats off to them for all their efforts, especially during the online classes.

How has the experience of the online classes been for Mannat?

One never felt that students are sitting at home since the past two years. Parents often in this situation wondered if the children would lose their intellectual sharpness. But during the online classes, the teachers were constantly explaining the students each and every concept till it was clear. All the teachers were very cooperative. They would call before the exams, in case the child had any doubt. They even told the parents that we could contact them at any time, if the child faced any problem in their studies.

Is Mannat happy to be back at the school?

Yes, she is very happy. More so, since Apeejay Model Town has recently been made functional till class 12, so she is very happy as she would not have to shift to another school to complete her 10+2 education.
