Saplings, responsibility, and hope mark World Environment Day

Young green stewards at Apeejay School, Saket, turn concern into action with a plantation drive

World Environment Day carries a simple but urgent reminder. The Earth is what we all have in common. At Apeejay School, Saket, this thought found expression through a meaningful initiative that encouraged students to see environmental care not as a one-day activity but as a shared responsibility.

The school observed World Environment Day with enthusiasm and purpose. The focus remained on sustainability, responsibility, and the small actions that can gradually shape a healthier future. Saplings were planted across the school campus, turning the observance into a practical lesson in care, patience, and long-term thinking.

Planting for a greener campus

The sapling plantation drive gave students a direct way to participate in environmental action. It helped them understand that caring for nature begins with simple steps. A young child planting a sapling may seem like a small gesture, but it carries a quiet message. Growth takes time, and responsibility must be nurtured in the same way.

The activity also added a visible green touch to the campus. It allowed students to connect classroom learning with real action. Lessons on the environment often stay abstract until children place their hands in the soil and see what care looks like up close.

Action beyond school boundaries

The initiative did not remain limited to the school campus. Young environmental stewards of the school also planted saplings at their homes and in nearby parks. Their efforts extended the message beyond school walls.

Such participation matters because habits formed early often stay longer. When children take ownership of small acts, they begin to understand that protecting nature is not someone else’s work. It is a responsibility that belongs to every home, every neighbourhood, and every generation.

Through this initiative, Apeejay School, Saket, reinforced the idea that meaningful change begins with mindful steps. The hope is that these young learners will continue to carry this awareness forward.
