Apeejay School, Pitampura’s young learners say no to bullying
Through engaging role-plays and enactments, teachers help students understand bullying, empathy, and the power of kindness
Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see. Inspired by this timeless thought, Apeejay School, Pitampura, organised a special assembly on No Bullying for students of the nursery, KG and Class I. The initiative aimed to introduce young learners to the importance of kindness, empathy, respect and creating a safe environment for everyone.
Keeping the students’ age and understanding in mind, the assembly featured an engaging role-play and enactment by the school teachers. Stepping into the roles of different characters, the teachers presented simple and relatable situations to help children understand what bullying means and how it can affect someone’s feelings.
Through the enactments, students learnt that bullying can take different forms, including teasing, saying unkind words, excluding someone from a group or deliberately hurting another person. The teachers highlighted the importance of recognising such behaviour and encouraged students to speak up whenever they or someone else is being treated unfairly.
The assembly also focused on positive behaviour and the power of kind words and actions. Students were encouraged to share, include others in games and activities, listen to their friends and treat everyone with dignity. The interactive presentation helped make an important message accessible and meaningful for the young learners.
The teachers also reinforced that children should never hesitate to approach a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or see someone else being bullied. The emphasis remained on building students’ confidence to seek help and support one another.
The special assembly served as an important step towards nurturing a culture of compassion and mutual respect from the early years. By introducing children to these values at a young age, the school continues to encourage responsible behaviour and positive relationships within the school community.
The initiative reaffirmed the school’s commitment to creating an environment where every child feels safe, respected, heard and valued, because good values, kindness and empathy truly begin young.
