Buno Kahani’ Activity Turns Honesty into a Creative Learning Experience
Apeejay School, Noida students build a story together while strengthening imagination, public speaking and attentive listening skills.
A creative storytelling activity at Apeejay School, Noida brought together the values of honesty, imagination and collaborative learning as students of Class VI participated in the Buno Kahani Activity during their Genius Hour. Inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the activity centred on the moral value of honesty and encouraged students to understand the importance of truthfulness through an engaging storytelling exercise.
The activity began with the teacher initiating a story based on the theme of honesty. Rather than listening to a complete narrative, students were invited to become storytellers themselves. One by one, they continued the story by adding meaningful sentences while ensuring that their contributions remained connected to the storyline and preserved its flow.
The simple yet imaginative format encouraged students to think on their feet and build upon the ideas shared by their classmates. Each participant had to listen carefully to what came before, understand the direction of the story and then contribute appropriately. This made the activity a collaborative exercise in both creativity and communication.
Students participated with great enthusiasm and displayed creativity, confidence and effective communication skills throughout the session. Their eagerness to contribute reflected the effectiveness of experiential learning, where students can explore important values through activities that allow them to participate actively rather than simply receive information.
Listening also became an important part of the experience. As every student added a new sentence, others paid close attention to maintain continuity in the narrative. This encouraged them to respect each other’s ideas, remain attentive and think carefully before making their own contributions.
At the heart of the evolving story was the value of honesty. By keeping the moral theme central while developing the narrative, students were encouraged to reflect on the significance of being truthful and sincere in everyday life. The activity provided an opportunity to connect a moral lesson with their own creative expressions.
The Buno Kahani Activity also helped students strengthen several essential skills. Constructing a story collectively encouraged imagination and creative thinking, while presenting ideas before peers helped build confidence and public speaking abilities. Listening attentively to classmates further enhanced their ability to understand and respond thoughtfully.
The activity demonstrated how moral education can become more meaningful when combined with creativity and participation. Instead of treating honesty as an abstract value, students explored it through a shared story that evolved with every contribution.

Through Buno Kahani, Class VI learners not only reinforced the importance of honesty but also discovered the joy of creating and communicating ideas together.
