Teachers play a crucial role in schools as educators, mentors, and role models. They impart knowledge, inspire curiosity, and foster critical thinking skills among students. “I am glad my daughter is in a kind of scholastic environment that contributes to creating a positive learning environment that promotes collaboration, respect, and inclusivity,” shares Shital Virke whose daughter Anusri studies in class XI at Apeejay School, Nerul

Excerpts from the interview

Why did you select Apeejay for your child?

My husband is a government employee who got transferred to Nerul. When we started looking for a good school for my children, we received great reviews about this school for our family relatives. The academic system at this school is at par with any other school here. We, as parents, always had good academics as our priority for our children and Apeejay fulfilled it to the core.

How are the teachers here?

When my daughter started going to school she was an introvert. But gradually the teachers helped her to adjust and she soon started to feel comfortable. Her personality starred changing in every positive sense. Though she has always been a studious girl but holistically speaking, my child really grew better.

Do you agree with the adage – that school is the second home for a child?

My daughter is a die-hard fan of her school. I would say she is almost obsessed with her school. Even during her holidays after the final exams of her last standard, she was missing her classes and teachers so much and was waiting eagerly for the school to reopen again. Anusri is really attached to the school and thinks highly of it.

What are your child’s dream and aspirations?

Anusri cleared her class X recently and has taken PCB in class XI. She aspires to become a doctor and this goal is quite clear in her head. My daughter’s goal right now is her studies and school. She is always involved in her academics diligently.

What other sports and extracurricular activities Anusri enjoys?

I have made sure that my daughter indulges into other activities apart from studies. She used to pursue dancing and swimming sometime back. At school she learnt karate and skating recently.

Define your parenting style?

My husband and I have jobs. For us education is of utmost importance. As parents we want our children to first excel in academics and become financially independent. Apart from that I also want that my children should be honed in one of their talents which needs to be explored together.

How is your interaction with your children?

I manage to take feedback about school and studies from my children on daily basis. Since I pick up my kids from the school, I make it a point to discuss everything about school life with them.  This helps me to keep a tab on both my kids.
