Ribhav is a budding designer studying Bachelors of Design at Apeejay College Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar. He has founded his own clothing brand in 2023 and proudly puts up a stall for the same in his college festivals.

In a quick chat with his mother Mrs Aarti Batra, we learn how ACFA is shaping Ribhav to excel in his chosen career. Read edited excerpts:

How is Ribhav doing at the college?

Ribhav is progressing well in his curriculum. He is doing great, even beyond my expectations. Throughout his school years, he was fairly good in academics but soon after joining ACFA, he has been excelling beyond measure in his studies.

What are his favourite subjects? Does the college give the students enough practical work?

My son enjoys AutoCAD app design work and similar design parts. His hand is very good and quite neat in art and he was recently chosen for an art competition as well. The college is enabling every student to upgrade their skills as well as making them involved in a plethora of assignments.

What about an interest in sports?

Ribhav has been an active sportsman since childhood. And he is co-in-charge of the school badminton team. He loves to play badminton and has won many competitions as well. He is also good at cricket.

Excellent! Any extracurricular skills as well?

Ribhav has the stage confidence and also does modelling frequently in the college campus (as part of their design projects). He always participates in college fest and puts up his stall of his own clothing brand which he founded last year. He is doing really well in this.

So how did Ribhav begin to like design and tell us about his career steps in this field?

I am also an interior designer by profession and have been working since the last 15 years. So it was only natural that my son felt inclined towards this field. When he enrolled in the Bachelors of Design programme at ACFA, it became clearer about his calling in this field. His career aim is to become a successful interior designer and he wants to explore more in this field with his great marketing skills and innovative ideas .

Are the teachers doing justice to their job?

Teachers are not only his gurus but also his friends. They coordinate with all the students, guide them and channelise their potential really well. I am very impressed with their work.

Are you satisfied as a parent with the college environment?

Yes, I am highly satisfied. ACFA is a very good college and I am so happy to see the positive changes the college is bringing out in my child. My son is happy on the college campus and is learning something new everyday.
