Creating an ideal school environment for children involves fostering a space that promotes holistic development, safety, inclusivity, and a love for learning. This school has fostered a culture of inclusivity, engagement, support, and character development, which can empower students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally,” shares Ranjana Sharma whose son Viraj studies in class I at Apeejay School, Tanda Road.

Excerpts from the interview

Why did you select this school for your child?

The biggest reason is that my elder daughter is also studying in the same school. It’s more comfortable to have both your children in the same school. The second important factor is that the school administration and general environment is conducive for a positive growth of the child.

How has the school positively influenced your son?

My son’s three-year journey in this school is filled with great learning lessons. His communication skills in English have enhanced remarkably. He has learnt all the language grammar rules and diction so well. He has also become an extremely disciplined child. There were a few behavioural issues with him in the starting but over these years my son has become a much disciplined and well behaved child at school.

What does your son enjoy at school apart from academics?

Viraj loves to play different games with his friends at school. Besides that he also loves to indulge into creative writing, he doesn’t have any stage phobia and participates in poetry and story recitation competitions.

Define your parenting style.

I am a working woman so I believe in maintaining a balance of freedom and strictness with my children. I allow limited screen time for my kids. I feel allowing screen time is important for young kids because they pick up many good lessons from online stories. My son picked up a few important life lessons from the online story called – Hansel and Gretel.

How are the teachers here?

All the teachers here give 100 per cent to the students here. Both my kids feel like they are like a second mother to them. Since my son is in primary elementary level, all the staff members maintain such professional calmness and patience with them. It’s really endearing to watch all this.
