Recognising a student’s talents in both academics and extracurricular activities is essential for fostering self-esteem and motivation. Customised feedback and encouragement from educators, mentors, and classmates play a crucial role in building confidence and inspiring students to further develop their skills and pursue their interests. Such a personalised approach, which acknowledges the uniqueness of each student’s abilities, helps cultivate their potential, ensuring every student feels valued and motivated to achieve their utmost capacity.

Meet two students Sanvi Bhoi and Isha Monga, students of Apeejay School, Nerul who have been promoted to class VIII. Both students, through their academic journey, have not only exhibited their flare in academics, but they have also showcased their talent as an all-round personality that underscores the holistic development that is the benchmark of Apeejay Education.

Sharing her gratitude and happiness at the result, Isha stated the outcome was as she expected. “I have now gone to class VIII and have a variety of hobbies, including dancing, painting, rural gardening, and playing sports like throwball and basketball,” she said.

She shares how she manages time effectively. “I get a lot of support from the teachers and the school where I manage to complete 80 per cent of the syllabus in the school itself due to the excellent teachers we have. This allows me to balance my studies with extracurricular activities. Once I am back from school I spend time with my pet and go out and play with my friends. Once I am back home, I sit down to finish home and try to revise what has been taught in the day. Whatever is pending is tackled over the weekends,” Isha recounted.

She also spoke proudly about her involvement in school competitions, highlighting her achievements across different activities from sports to arts, including winning the first prize in a Hindi declamation competition and being part of the winning team in basketball. “One particular project that I am proud of is the class magazine project. Another challenge that I overcame was to score well in Math with support from her teachers and parents,” she shared, who looks up to her parents as role models and is intrigued by space exploration and art as potential future interests.

Her mantra to success is simple. “Stay updated with what is being taught in the class. Listening carefully to the teachers goes a long way in tackling the curriculum leaving the last days free of any stress and anxiety. The help and support from the teachers that I have got has always been a major contributor to my success,” Isha said.

Agrees Sanvi and advises students to be attentive in class, thoroughly understand the material, and maintain honesty with oneself about one’s abilities. “The support I receive from my teachers, who ensure thorough understanding and revision, and my parents, who assist her with study-related doubts has helped me not only score well but to manage any stress and anxiety typically associated with exams,” the eighth-grader shared.

Her hobbies include writing poems, Odissi classical dance, and reading novels. She attributes her success to a strong understanding of concepts rather than rote memorisation and admits to focusing more on her studies as exam dates approach, thanks to the effective teaching methods at her school.

“Time management and prioritising tasks are of the essence. This has made it possible for me to keep up with my hobbies, and other activities,” Sanvi shared, who takes pride in winning the first prize in a Holiday Book Test and a Story Writing competition.
