Amuljit Singh is a business trainee at ICICI Bank, Jalandhar. His day is filled with several client meetings and customer dealings. Having done his MBA in marketing and operations from Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Jalandhar, Amuljit secured the campus placement with ease.
In an informal conversation about his alma mater, Singh speaks about his journey in the classroom and beyond and what shaped him into his current persona. Read edited excerpts:
Did AIMETC train you well for the college placement?
Yes. We had proper extra classes for months on reasoning, aptitude and other subjects in context to the placement tests. This was followed by regular group discussion rounds and mock interviews. We were prepared for every situation and test.
So the teachers did a great job?
Absolutely! They were our guardians in the true sense. Be it something academic or even related to personal life, the teachers at AIMECT guided us in everything. I would especially like to thank Rajan ma’am, Rajnish sir and Anu Sahi ma’am for their constant encouragement and support.
And how was campus life?
It was superb. So many festivals and cultural activities. I had a huge participation level in them especially in basketball, chess group dance activities that included Bhangra and I also went in for photography competitions.
That’s great! So what benefit do you experience after doing the MBA from Apeejay?
I have professionally updated myself. In the best of ways I have upskilled myself. After my
B Com, I remember every company looked for an employee with an MBA. So, now I am qualified for better packages and greater opportunities
Any advice for current students?
Focus on the campus placement and work hard for it. Listen to your teachers and follow their advice. It makes all the difference.
Finally, tell us about your work at the bank?
Mine is a very busy day at the bank. From jotting the leads, making client calls, dealing with customers, meeting customers who can’t reach the bank, it is a hectic and consuming day.
