It has been 14 years since Banpreet Bindra passed out of Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector 15. In the last two decades this flamboyant young boy has now turned into a full-fledged responsible family man. In a candid interview, Bindra shares how his school was the only one that offered a swimming pool and a huge cricket ground to its students back then.

Tell us about your professional life.

After passing out from Apeejay School in 2010, I took admission in SRCC in North Campus and pursued my graduation from there. Today, I have a manufacturing unit that produces automobile parts.

What does your typical day look like?

I usually wake up by 7:30 am and after finishing my breakfast, head for my office. I am occupied the whole day with meetings that are scheduled with my clients, customers and vendors. By around 7 pm I am back home and spend time with my family.

Memories from school you still remember.

I was always an extremely naughty child in school and was quite popular for all my antics those days. But at the same time, I made sure I scored well in my class too. Especially in my senior classes, I always managed to get good marks. Moreover, I made some really great friends in school with whom I still share a strong bond. In fact, I was the only student from my school batch who got admission in SRCC, Delhi University.

What is your biggest takeaway from this school?

For me, the biggest takeaway from this school is not only my good marks but the way my whole personality got built and was honed here. We all know that it’s no longer the marks but the overall individual development that goes a long way to achieve success.

How were the teachers here?

It is only because of my teachers that I could achieve what I am today. Most of the teachers here were my second mothers, away from home. I am still in regular touch with them and it is always a great feeling to meet and interact with them.

What is your comment on the brain drain trend?

I feel that this concept occurs mostly due to the influence by friends and family. There is always this passive pressure that develops in an individual which pushes someone to leave their country and pursue studies and jobs abroad. But I believe, the most important thing is that parents should identify the strong areas of their child and support him/her to carve his/her niche.
