“Finance is a niche field with endless opportunities”

Sheenu Aggarwal is an Apeejay School of Management (ASM) alumna, who currently works for Wipro and manages various high profile real estate overseas clients. Finance has always been her go to field and she upskilled her passion at ASM. In a quick chat, she mentions her work responsibilities, learnings at ASM and also shares some key lessons for students.

Tell us a little about your current role.

I’m at present, working at Wipro in the finance department. My role primarily involves preparing high-level management reports for Blackstone’s real estate division. Blackstone has two key departments: Real estate and private credit. My day involves preparing reports that detail Blackstone’s real estate assets across Europe, Asia, and America. I specifically take care of the American portfolio, ensuring everything is well-documented and up to date. It’s a mix of report generation and working with system management software, making it both technical and analytical.

What drew you to this industry and role?

It’s a technical field with immense growth potential. Over time, as you build expertise, you can create a niche for yourself and advance significantly in your career. Finance is logical, grounded in real-world applications, and aligns perfectly with my interests.

How did your time at Apeejay School of Management help you identify this passion?
The institute’s curriculum is structured to give students exposure to various specialisations like HR, marketing, operations, and finance during the first year. This multidisciplinary approach helped me discover my affinity for finance — it felt logical, practical, and exciting to me. The projects we worked on were aligned with present global scenarios, which made them incredibly relevant and engaging. Analysing real-world trends and news through a financial lens cemented my decision to pursue this field.

Were you campus-placed? How did ASM prepare you for the placement process?

Yes, I was fortunate to be campus-placed at Wipro. The faculty played a key role in preparing us for placements. The professors were always approachable and supportive, guiding us through any doubts or challenges.

What’s one thing you believe every ASM student should focus on before entering the industry?

Maintaining calmness and self-confidence is crucial. The corporate world can be demanding, and people will test your patience. It’s essential to stay composed and believe in yourself — it makes a world of difference.

Always be open to learning and take every challenge as an opportunity to grow. The path may seem tough, but with persistence and a positive attitude, success is within reach.
