According to Wendell Berry: The Earth is what we all have in common. This idea guided the Earth Day celebration at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, where young students were introduced to environmental responsibility through simple and engaging activities.
Students from nursery to Class II took part in a plantation drive within the school campus. With guidance from teachers, they planted saplings and learned about the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance. The activity gave them a direct, hands on understanding of how small actions contribute to a healthier environment.

The celebration also included colouring sessions based on Earth Day themes. Students expressed their ideas through drawings that reflected greenery, conservation, and care for the planet. These activities helped them grasp environmental concepts in a way that felt natural and age appropriate.
Classrooms and corridors displayed charts and drawings created by the students. The work reflected their understanding of environmental care and added to the overall atmosphere of the event. Teachers ensured that each activity remained both meaningful and enjoyable, allowing students to learn without pressure.

The event was conducted under the guidance of the school In-charge, Mrs Ritu Sachdeva, who oversaw its organisation. The school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, appreciated the efforts of the school community.
“Earth Day is a reminder of our shared responsibility towards the planet. I am delighted to see our young students actively participating in meaningful activities like plantation and creative expression. Such initiatives nurture environmental consciousness from an early age. I appreciate the efforts of our In-charge, Mrs Sachdeva, and the dedication of our teachers in making this event successful. Let us continue to inspire our students to care for the Earth and become responsible global citizens,” the Principal shared.

What this reflects is a steady approach to building awareness from an early stage. When children learn through action, the impact tends to stay with them. Initiatives like these move beyond a one day celebration and help shape how students understand their role in caring for the environment.
