The festival of Baisakhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and vibrant energy at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town, Jalandhar, where young learners from Pre-Nursery to UKG participated in a lively Baisakhi Mela. The event aimed to introduce children to the cultural significance of the festival while creating a joyful and engaging learning experience.
The campus was filled with excitement as the tiny tots arrived dressed in colourful traditional attire, reflecting the festive spirit of the occasion. The cheerful environment and vibrant decorations added to the charm of the celebration, making it a memorable day for the children. Teachers and students together recreated the lively atmosphere of a traditional fair, ensuring that the young participants enjoyed every moment.
One of the major attractions of the mela was the variety of fun rides and toy stalls arranged especially for the children. The young learners enthusiastically explored the stalls and enjoyed the rides with their friends, filling the surroundings with laughter and excitement. These playful activities helped create a festive ambience similar to traditional village fairs associated with the harvest season.

A special highlight of the event was the thoughtfully designed ‘Khet to Plate’ corner. At this interactive learning station, teachers explained to the children how wheat grown in the fields is transformed into flour and eventually into chapati. Through this simple yet meaningful activity, the children were introduced to the journey of food from the farm to their plate. The initiative also helped them understand the valuable contribution of farmers in providing food for everyone.
Teachers also shared the significance of Baisakhi as an important harvest festival in India. The concept was explained in a simple and engaging manner so that the young learners could easily relate to it. The children learned that Baisakhi celebrates the joy of harvesting crops and expresses gratitude to farmers for their hard work.
To make the celebration more interactive, several creative classroom activities were organised. Children participated in corn salad making, which allowed them to explore food preparation in a fun way. Craft activities such as making corn-themed artwork and dhol crafts further added to the excitement. These hands-on activities encouraged creativity while helping the children connect with the festive theme.

The celebration concluded with energetic dance performances on lively Punjabi songs. The children enthusiastically danced to the beats, bringing the festive spirit to life. Their cheerful performances filled the environment with joy and celebration.
Overall, the Baisakhi Mela proved to be a delightful and enriching experience for the young learners. The event not only introduced them to an important cultural festival but also encouraged learning through fun activities, creativity, and joyful participation.
