The Central Board of Secondary Education declared the Class XII Board exam results for 2026 on May 13 through its official websites. This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.20%. Out of 17,80,365 registered candidates, 17,68,968 students appeared for the exam, while 15,07,109 cleared it successfully.

Among the many students celebrating strong performances this year were Fatima Sadik Maruf, securing 98.4% in Commerce, and Diya Prajeed, achieving 95.4% in Science, from Apeejay School, Nerul. While their journeys were very different, both students spoke about discipline, consistency, teacher support, and finding study methods that genuinely worked for them.

Fatima tried to distribute her workload throughout the week so that she could actually complete her targets. “Since I was also preparing for CLAT, I wanted to finish most of my Class XII syllabus early. I tried to complete a large portion by August so that after CLAT, I could focus fully on my Boards. Rather than cramming concepts, I focused on understanding them. I also used the ‘blurting method’, where I would write down everything I knew about a topic on paper to check whether I had truly understood it or not. That really helped me revise better and identify weak areas,” she shared.

For Business Studies and Economics, she relied heavily on NCERT, while for Applied Mathematics she used supplementary books. She credits much of her success to the constant support of her teachers, some of whom personally helped her cover missed concepts and guided her throughout the year.

She believes regular practice is essential even for theory subjects and says techniques like writing things down, the Pomodoro, and blurting can help students discover what study method suits them best.

For most of Class XII, Diya’s main focus was NEET preparation. “However, during the last two months before the Boards, I shifted my attention completely towards CBSE preparation. At that stage, I relied heavily on NCERT textbooks and previous year question papers. I genuinely feel that PYQs played a major role in helping me during the exams because several questions in this year’s Physics paper closely resembled questions from earlier board papers. Since I had revised them just a few days before the exam, I could answer them confidently without wasting much time thinking during the paper,” she said.

Balancing NEET and Board preparation was definitely stressful, but strong support from both her family and teachers made the process manageable. “My school teachers guided us extensively on answer writing, paper presentation, and error analysis after tests. My parents also made sure I could focus entirely on studies without worrying about anything else,” she said in conclusion.
