‘At Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, teachers give equal attention, exposure to all students’
Kavita Dhir, mother of Bhavik, a student of LKG in Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Jalandhar, shares how the schoolteacher helped her child overcome temper issues
Kavita Dhir, Front Desk Manager, SGL Super Speciality Hospital, Jalandhar, says it is not just her son Bhavik who has developed a bond with the teachers at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld. The teachers guide her as well in understanding and dealing with her child better. In an interview, the mother talks about how the teachers put extra effort to make students feel comfortable in a classroom. Edited excerpts:
What is it about Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Jalandhar that encouraged you to enroll your son?
Bhavik, who is now in Lower Kindergarten, joined Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Jalandhar, in pre-nursery before the pandemic. While looking for schools, our major criteria were that the school should have a comfortable and friendly atmosphere and good teachers. Rhythms Kinderworld was the place that suited our needs. One of our friends, who had also enrolled his child in the school, had also given us very positive feedback.
Since these are the foundational years of learning, what do you think of the educational environment that the school provides?
It is brilliant. The teachers never pressurise the students in any way. In fact, they work as per the students, taking care of them and guiding them individually. My son is short-tempered which led to some difficulties initially, but his teacher ensured she made her feel comfortable and supported him at every step of the way.
Have you faced any challenges in online classes?
Even parents may lose their patience sometimes but not the teachers in this school. Initially, they comforted parents and urged them to not force their children into attending online classes. They also keep us in the loop and share all details about the activities done in class.
How do class activities help the students?
The activities are planned in such a way that they not only draw children’s interest but also teach them new things in a playful manner. It is a learning process for parents as well.
What kind of extra-curricular activities does your son participate in?
Bhavik participates in painting competitions and other cultural events. The teachers do not pick and choose students; they give equal exposure to all of them. The idea is to not win prizes but to help them build their confidence level. As a parent, I ensure my son takes part in each and every activity.
What do you have to say about your son’s overall improvement?
Bhavik has improved a lot over time. His teachers have been extremely cooperative. Prior to the pandemic, he would be eager to go to school every day. His confidence and communication skills have improved tremendously.
Tell us about the relationship between the parents and the teachers.
I am in touch with all of Bhavik’s teachers. I still seek advice from Bhavik’s first teacher Pallavi ma’am at the school. She was the one who took special care of my child to help him cope with temper issues. All the teachers constantly guide us.
