Apeejay School in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, has been a beacon of quality education for many families in the area. We had the privilege of speaking with a parent whose daughter, Shraaya, is currently in the 8th grade at Apeejay. Here’s what she had to say about her experience and the environment at Apeejay:

Could you tell us a bit about your decision to enrol Shraaya at Apeejay School?
Shraaya is currently in the 8th grade, and when it came to choosing the right school for her, I looked at various factors. Firstly, her elder sister excelled academically at Apeejay, graduating with the highest marks in her commerce section this year. Seeing her success, I felt confident that Apeejay could provide the nurturing environment and academic rigour that would benefit Shraaya as well.

What aspects of Apeejay School stand out to you as a parent?
One of the most notable aspects is the school’s emphasis on extracurricular activities alongside academics. Shraaya is deeply interested in sports, arts, and crafts, and Apeejay provides ample opportunities for her to explore these passions. Whether it’s participating in Olympiad sports or engaging in artistic endeavours, she’s able to thrive in a well-rounded environment.

How would you describe Shraaya’s relationship with her teachers and the school staff?
I’m pleased to say that Shraaya shares a positive rapport with her teachers and finds them approachable. As a parent who’s been involved with the school for some time now, I appreciate the openness of the staff. Whenever there have been any concerns or issues, they’ve been addressed promptly and effectively through open communication channels.

Could you share your thoughts on parental involvement in a child’s education?
I strongly believe in staying actively involved in my children’s education. Regular parent-teacher meetings provide invaluable insights into Shraaya’s progress and any areas where she may need additional support. By maintaining a proactive approach and fostering a supportive home environment, I aim to encourage her academic and personal growth.

What advice would you give to other parents regarding their involvement in their child’s education?
It’s essential for parents to strike a balance between guidance and autonomy for their children. By creating a friendly and open atmosphere at home, where children feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns, we can better understand their needs and provide appropriate support. Additionally, consistent effort and attention to all subjects throughout the academic year are crucial for long-term success.

How do you view the school’s approach to mental health and well-being?
Mental health is a priority for both parents and the school community. I’m glad to see that Apeejay incorporates workshops and initiatives to support students’ emotional well-being. From what I’ve observed, there’s no undue pressure placed on students, which contributes to a positive learning environment.

Lastly, could you share a bit about Shraaya’s personality and her interactions within the school community?
Shraaya is a vibrant and sociable young girl who gets along well with her peers. While she may be a bit shy with her teachers, she’s eager to engage with her friends. I’ve noticed she sometimes hesitates with maths, but overall, she’s a friendly and talkative individual who adds positivity to her surroundings.
