Upma Aggarwal, a wedding trousseau consultant, says Apeejay School, Pitampura, was where she wanted her child Hitanshu to study right from the beginning. In fact, the school has lived up to all her expectations. In an interview, Upma shares how Apeejay’s theme-based learning has benefited her child. Edited excerpts:

What is it about Apeejay Pitampura that encouraged you to enroll your child?

Both my husband Nitesh Aggarwal and I wanted Hitanshu to study at Apeejay School, Pitampura because of its reputation in academics. The school has an excellent background and has recorded an excellent performance till now. The schoolteachers also have a good reputation and make sure every child is able to develop properly.

What was your first visit to the school campus like?

I liked the campus; I did not find it lacking in anything. The playgrounds and basketball court are all well-maintained. I also interacted with the principal and other teachers who assured me that my child will be taken good care of and will be given personal attention. Even in the online mode, the teachers ensure that every child is participating actively in the class, answering questions, etc.

Apeejay focuses on experiential and activity-based learning. Is it something you specifically wanted for your child?

Yes, I was looking for a school that would inculcate practical knowledge. It is so important to be able to apply your knowledge in your day-to-day activities. It is what helps you retain all that you learn. This school actually bridges the gap seamlessly. Hitanshu’s classes are based on a particular theme every month, which also involve theme-based activities.

How well has Hitanshu progressed?

Hitanshu has learned a lot from the school. He has gained confidence; he voluntarily participates in various activities like art and craft, math quizzes, and so on, and has won prizes. The teachers encourage and help him every step of the way.

What do you think of the online classes?

Apeejay has been handling online classes very well. Parents are provided with the timetable and are always updated about all the developments in class. Teachers make sure that every student has their cameras switched on and pays attention.

Apeejay schools emphasise upon value-based education. Has your son gained from it?

The schoolteachers tell me that Hitanshu respects and listens to them. He tries to mend his ways whenever he makes a mistake. The theme-based classes also include the inculcation of human values like respecting elders, sharing, conservation of resources, and so on. Besides, there are group discussions in the class which are focused on similar values.
