As a nursery teacher herself with around 17 years of experience, Neha Chadha is well aware of the challenges in educating young children. But the mother of Amaira Chadha, a student at Apeejay School, Pitampura, says she is so satisfied with the school that she has already recommended it to many others. In an interview, Chadha, who works at Prabhu Dayal Public School, Shalimar Bhag, talks about the discipline at Apeejay Pitampura, the professionalism of the teachers, and more. Edited excerpts:

Why did you pick Apeejay School, Pitampura, for your daughter?

We did our research before choosing the school. There were also many of our acquaintances who recommended the school as among the best in North Delhi. I am a nursery teacher myself and people who referred the school to me were also professionals, which boosted my confidence. My daughter was among the six students selected via draw of lots.

Tell us about your overall experience with the school till now.

The journey has been really smooth. Initially, I had some apprehensions as a parent but as time passed, I was overwhelmed to see the effort put in by the school. The teaching practices used by the school, from activity-based learning to audio-visual aid, have helped my child learn so much.

Are online classes proving to be beneficial for your child?

I would really like to appreciate the effort the school is putting in, despite the pandemic-induced challenges. Teachers are extremely patient with the students. The school recently resumed online classes after the vacation and my daughter is very excited. The school has spurred my child’s interest in learning, which I think is very crucial.

What kind of a bond do the teachers share with the students?

The teachers bring themselves down to the level of the students to educate them. They are highly professional and down-to-earth. What makes them special is how they are personally invested in every child’s progress. We are really satisfied with the school and have recommended it to many of our friends.

What do you think of the overall educational environment in the school?

When I visited the school at the time of admission, I took a round of the school premises. What particularly caught my attention was the discipline maintained in the school. Whether the students are in a class or in the corridors or even during annual events, they appear to be very disciplined. Even in online classes, the discipline is maintained very well. They conduct the assembly every morning, which is very good.

Do teachers encourage your daughter to participate in extra-curricular activities?

My daughter has been a part of a lot of cultural events and competitions in school. The annual day events organised by the school based on themes are wonderful. The way the teachers manage small children is worthy of praise. The teachers are not biased towards any student; they encourage everybody equally. The same is true for online classes.

How has the school helped your daughter evolve?

My daughter’s concentration levels have improved through presentations and other activities. Apart from learning to be independent, she has developed a sense of emotional balance. Besides, she is not a fussy eater any longer, something that we see in many kids. These are some of the biggest improvements I have observed in her.
