Apeejay School, Saket participated in a special screening of Hold My Hand, a thought-provoking film focusing on mental health awareness, at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. The initiative provided students with an opportunity to engage with the important themes of emotional well-being, mental health and the need to create a more compassionate and understanding society.
A group of 40 students, accompanied by the school’s Wellness Counsellor, attended the screening. Produced by Creative Gypsy, the film presented an insightful perspective on emotional struggles and the importance of seeking support, encouraging young minds to reflect on their own well-being as well as that of those around them.
The screening was followed by an enriching interaction with the film’s Director, Ms Neeru Khera, and renowned psychiatrist Prof. Swaranpreet Singh. The engaging discussion allowed students to explore various aspects of mental health and emotional wellness. The experts addressed questions and concerns raised by the students, helping them understand the importance of open conversations about mental health.
The interaction also focused on challenging common misconceptions surrounding mental health and encouraging individuals to move beyond stigma, judgement and hesitation. Students were sensitised to the significance of recognising emotions, expressing themselves freely and reaching out for help whenever required.
The session served as a valuable platform for students to gain greater awareness of emotional well-being while developing empathy and sensitivity towards others. The presence of experienced professionals further enriched their understanding and encouraged them to approach mental health with greater openness and responsibility.
The special screening and interaction proved to be an insightful and empowering experience for the students. It reinforced the message that mental health is an essential part of overall well-being and that creating a supportive environment begins with awareness, empathy and meaningful conversations.
