Appejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, celebrates dance, culture and creativity

To celebrate International Dance Day in style, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, presented their eagerly anticipated “Beat-2-Beat Inter-House Dance Competition”, allowing everyone to get their groove on with the universal language of dance. It allowed students a chance to demonstrate their creativity, confidence and pride in their culture. 

The programme started with a cordial welcome by Arshavi Verma from Class XII (Science), then the dignitaries, Mr A.K Sharma, the Principal and Mrs Loveleen Bagga, the Vice Principal, lit the candle, symbolising the pursuit of enlightenment and knowledge. 

Participants of all four houses – Beas, Saraswati, Satluj and Yamuna- gave scintillating and flamboyant performances in four events ranging from class I to XII. Every performance, using both traditional and modern styles of dancing, portrayed their hard work and coordination along with an exquisite display of art. 

A learning touch was given to the celebration when Aishpreet Kaur of class XII (Science) put forth the historical relevance and importance of International Dance Day through an informative account. The presentation also included a video depicting dance as a tool of cultural expression and integration. 

The chief guest, Mr A.K Sharma, also gave his speech on how dance is a complete entertainment and one of the best ways to keep one’s body fit and use one’s energy in an innovative way. He congratulated the dance teacher, Ms Shama Rani, and the participants for their excellent performance. 

The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Mrs Loveleen Bagga, who praised the students and the entire staff for their collaborative endeavour. The function ended with joy and happiness with the prize-giving ceremony for the exceptional talent and a strong emphasis on the concept that dance is an occasion for celebrating life.
