Social service intends to help disadvantaged, vulnerable, and distressed individuals and families. And this is why social activists join hands to help the underprivileged people for the betterment of the society.

Therefore, to inculcate the value of social service among students, Apeejay International School (ASI), South Delhi recently organised an event for the students of Middle Years Programme (MYP), wherein they showcased their projects based on the topic ‘Service as Action (SAA)’.

Mr Purshottam Dutt Vashisht, Principal of ASI, launched the event by cutting the ribbon and declaring the exhibition open for guests. This was followed by a ceremony in which students presented their projects.

At the event, the young social activists briefly explained about their projects that were focused upon social issues. Along with that, they showcased their creativity by designing their stalls, based on their learnings.

The projects mesmerised the spectators including the parents, teachers as well as students from other batches. They also shared their valuable feedback with student participants.

On successfully presenting the project, Sabreen Kaur from MYP- IV said, “For my Service as Action project, I collaborated with an NGO called ‘Animal Trust’ that works for the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and needy animals.”

Another student, Vyna Malhotra from MYP- III said, “My SAA project was on Wildlife and how humans affect the protected areas. For this, I visited many wildlife parks and took interviews with forest officers.”

Further, Pragati Agnihotri, MYP coordinator expressed, “Every child has done extreme hard work, which is immeasurable. They have invested 12-14 hours on a daily basis to get this event into a wonderful showcase. Their knowledge, insight, and networking was consistent throughout the year. These students came up with the ideas and innovations, which can actually be released to the world.”

Rachan Preet, mother of a student Sabreen Kaur said, “I am very happy to see the efforts of the students. They have invested time and put in a lot of hardwork for their portfolios. Through these projects, kids have gained lots of knowledge and confidence.”

Shweta Chaudhary, mother of another student Vaishnavi said, “All the kids have done really great work and some of the art pieces were quite thought provoking. I was really surprised to see their creativity and understanding at this young age.”

At the end of the exhibition, parents, students, and teachers exchanged their thoughts and appreciated the efforts of the school.
