Read edited excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay Institute of Design? How are the teachers shaping your skills?

I chose Apeejay Institute of Design because of its strong reputation, creative environment, and focus on practical learning. The teachers are highly supportive and experienced, guiding us not only in design techniques but also in developing confidence, discipline, and professional thinking. Their mentorship helps me improve my skills every day.

What are the key skills in the age of AI one must nurture to succeed in the field of fashion design? How do you focus on skill development?

In the age of AI, important skills include creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, trend forecasting, technical knowledge, and strong communication. While AI can assist with ideas and technology, original thinking and personal vision remain essential. I focus on skill development by practicing sketching, learning design software, researching trends, and continuously experimenting with new concepts.

Can you share a memorable classroom project or assignment that challenged your creativity or taught you something new?

One memorable assignment was creating an illustration based on any architecture from around the world. It challenged me to research the design elements, structure, and details of the architecture I chose. I then explored different ways to incorporate those elements into clothing and accessories. This project taught me how to transform inspiration from one art form into fashion while improving my creativity and research skills.

Do you think research plays a crucial role when approaching a design project?

Yes, research is extremely important in every design project. It helps us understand the target audience, market trends, cultural influences, fabrics, colors, and sustainability aspects. Good research creates a strong foundation and ensures that designs are meaningful, relevant, and innovative.

What are your future aspirations?

My future aspiration is to become a successful fashion designer and create a brand known for originality and innovation. I also hope to contribute to sustainable fashion and continue learning new technologies that can shape the future of the industry.
