Mr. Sourav Jandial is an IT  entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Voyzapp.com. His daughter Abhya Jandial is a class 1 student at Apeejay School, Noida. In a brief interview, Mr. Jandial applauds the school’s terrific performance in the online mode and gives an insight into his daughter’s progress at school. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay School, Noida, over other schools for your daughter’s admission?

School is a crucial question for all parents as it plays a significant role in shaping up one’s child. While we were searching for a good school, we did some research and found that Apeejay Noida builds the right foundation for the growth of a child. If we want to create future Tatas, we need to provide a solid foundation to our children. I visited Apeejay Noida and discovered that we could expect a sound base for my child here. So I went ahead with Apeejay Noida.

Please tell us a bit about your daughter and guide us through her progress at school?

Abhya is doing very well at school. She is very keen to attend the classes in the morning. I am happy to say that she has not missed any of her classes. She is very fond of taking online classes. She is also very fond of Mathematics and drawing. She is into music as well.

Abhya loves to sing. She entertains her class with her singing from time to time. She sings mostly western songs. The song Senorita by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes is her recent favourite. I think she definitely must have sung this in her class some day (laughs) She is also interested in dance and is learning Kathak at present.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

The teachers are doing their best even in the present scenario where everyone is working from home. I appreciate their efforts. They are putting in all their efforts to ensure that the studies of the students go on seamlessly despite the pandemic. Ms. Ritika, Abhya’s classteacher, is a wonderful educator and has been taking very good care of her.

What is the best thing about Apeejay School, Noida?

During the pandemic, I have been observing the online classes and the teachers closely. Otherwise we as parents only listen to the child’s narrative once s/he comes back home from school. During the pandemic, we got a chance to see how our child is learning and how the teachers are handling things. It has been pretty good. One thing I liked the most is the fact that individual attention has been given to each and every student. Everyone gets to speak something in the class, no one is missed out.

How has Abhya’s experience of online classes been so far?

Online classes have been good. The students have got to learn something about technology through this. Abhya is ready by 8:30 in the morning and is very eager to attend the classes. She is also looking forward to the physical classes now since it has been quite a while in the online mode.
