The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is crucial for students aspiring to enter prestigious engineering institutes. It evaluates problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and conceptual understanding in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Keeping up with its repute, these two students from Apeejay School, Noida cut for this sought-after competitive exam.
Meet Pratiyush Kumar and Priyam Aggarwal who scored 99.2 and 98.94 percentile respectively in the JEE Main Session I exam. In a candid interview, both of them share their overwhelming feelings after making their parents and teachers proud.
Iterating about his preparation for boards and JEE, Priyam said, “It’s important to focus on the school as well as on competitive exams simultaneously. I never really separated JEE and Boards. Just went with JEE preparation and school exams fell into place. There are a lot of topics which have better context in NCERT. The level of Chemistry and Physics in Boards is almost comparable in JEE, however, Maths requires excessive effort and time.”
On the other hand, Pratiyush expressed, “The main thing that I used to follow was attending classes regularly and making notes of what was taught in the class. Revise the notes regularly and solve as many questions as possible. Also giving mock tests improved my marks a lot. For Boards, I was completely dependent on NCERT and studied that thoroughly.”
So how was the difficulty level this time? “JEE Mains are a bit tougher than Boards, I solved a lot of previous year’s questions and the modules that my teachers provided me with which helped me to crack this exam,” said Pratiyush.
Priyam pointed out, “The difficulty level of the paper was as expected however there was a slight change in pattern as of the previous trend. It’s important to cover as much syllabus as you can with at least a basic understanding of every topic. It’s also important to remain calm during the exam to avoid silly mistakes.”
Would they like to again reappear for the entrance or do they feel content with the results?
“Yes definitely, I will reappear for JEE main. There is still a lot to improve and achieve. It also keeps you on track and it’s important to remain in the motivated zone to excel in JEE Advanced.” Yes, I will reappear for the second attempt of JEE Mains and also JEE AdvancedPriyam and Pratyush shared in unison.
