Apeejay School of Management (ASM) alumnus Mukul Mehta is an experienced sales and marketing executive with a demonstrated history of working in the corporate industry. A result-driven and self-motivated professional, Mukul Mehta is always seeking to take up new challenges and learn. The Apeejay alumnus is currently working with Hiringhood, a first-in-class recruiters aggregation marketplace technology platform. In this interview, Mukul explains how technology is playing a big role in the recruitment sector and more:

How did you decide to pursue management education?

I always felt that I have an entrepreneurial mindset and always wanted to contribute to business growth by working with humans instead of machines.

What role did Apeejay play in shaping your professional journey?

Getting into Apeejay was the best decision for me as the institute helped me a lot by inculcating the most important management skills in me. One of the most essential skills which I got was Public Speaking. When I got into Apeejay I was scared of speaking even in front of the class and now, I am speaking about my organisation in front of hundreds of people frequently.

What are some of the recruitment trends shaped by the pandemic?

Virtual hiring is the new normal post the pandemic as organisations have realised the benefits of a virtual workforce. Secondly, in addition to external hiring, companies are giving preference to internal hiring. Technology has undoubtedly taken the center stage and using Artificial Intelligence to hire the right candidates is a thing now. Finally, project-based contract hiring is picking up.

Role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the recruitment sector?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are playing a big role in the recruitment sector as organisations are trying to reduce or eliminate the tiring recruitment activities such as manual screening of resumes. AI is being used in job postings and it is making the job posting more qualitative, implying that there is no need for manual effort to constantly update the job posting. New age companies like Hiringhood are trying to make the most out of AI/ML in recruitment by eliminating a lot of manual activities while trying to make the recruitment sector a technically strong and organised sector.
