Expert familiarises budding architects with ‘Total Survey Station’ technology

Albeit all fields need to stay in sync with the changing times and technology, perhaps it is most required in the field of architecture. Keeping pace with the latest technological advancement, Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP), Greater Noida recently organised a guest lecture, presented by Architect Kunal Bansal, a promising research scholar at IIT Roorkee. 

Mr Bansal presented a delightful take on the topic: Advance Surveying: Total Station Survey.

The lecture, co-ordinated by Architect Vidhi Goel, faculty at AIT-SAP, under the guidance and supervision of institute’s Director Prof. Vivek Sabherwal, focused on addressing different techniques of conducting a survey in the field of architecture and planning. Through the lecture, Mr Bansal also stressed on the importance of the widely used technology Total Station.  

Subsequently, the speaker introduced the Total Station Survey technique practically in the beautiful AIT-SAP campus. Students were divided in groups and were asked to take different measurements on site using Total Station.

The lecture was a big success while leading to an engrossing Q&A session. Mr Bansal addressed all the interesting questions posed by the students. He took time and answered each question with poise, citing many examples and anecdotes to the joy of the students.
