Dr Rakhi Chottrra is a dietician and a  homeopathy specialist who works with her husband Dr Mannan Chottrra. They are proud parents of Nyesha Chottrra, class six student at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar. In an exclusive interview, she shares her reasons for choosing the school, her daughter’s progress and her perception about the online mode of learning. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay School, Model Town over other schools for your daughter’s admission?

Actually, Nyesha was one of the first fifteen students that Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld School started with. My husband is also an alumnus of Apeejay Mahavir Marg. So he always wanted his child to study in an Apeejay School. Also, Apeejay Model Town is a very reputed school of Jalandhar. So, it was our first preference and we did not look at any other school for Nyesha’s admission.

Please tell us a bit about your child and take us through her progress at school?

Nyesha is an extrovert. She is very fond of taking part in activities whether offline or online. She loves to speak up, so she loves to take part in all the declamation contests, workshops, special assemblies. She is fond of English. She is a very good orator. She is doing very well at school. Her teachers also encourage her a lot because her speaking skills are very good.

She is good in other subjects also. She has won the academic awards in other subjects as well. She is the House Captain of Nilgiri House. She enjoys being with her friends and teachers at school. They are all very cooperative.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Yes, they are engaging very well with the students. As a parent I am very satisfied. When the pandemic came, every parent was a little anxious about the studies of their children. But there is no difference in quality between online and physical classes. The teachers are conducting the classes very well. They are clearing all doubts and making the students comfortable. I would say hats off to the teachers who are managing work from home for both school and their respective households.

I would like to thank Principal ma’am, Mrs Sinia Sajith, she is simply the best. She is managing the school really well.

What is the best thing about the school?

The best thing is that the school always ensures the overall development of the child. The school is now taking things to the next level for they are introducing classes till class 12. So that is a very good thing as earlier students had to go to other branches of the Apeejay School. It is also a very good thing as Apeejay Model Town is very close to my clinic and my child will be here till class 12.

What is your perception about the online classes?
As I said, I am totally satisfied with the school. The exams were conducted very well. It was not the case that kids could cheat sitting at their homes. The teachers conducted the exams very well. All activities, webinars are conducted in a very nice manner.
